Founded in 1982 by Masamitsu "Moo" Niitani and started by publishing Bee & Flower under the "Think Soft" brand and in their early days worked with "Programmers-3". Then they changed their name to Compile. Compile developed a wealth of games for numerous publishers (including SEGA) spanning many genres and formats. The company closed in 2002. Developer Aiky was founded by ex-Compile employees. For a while, Compile also ran an 18+ label called Momonoki House, with a disk magazine called Peach Up.
It also seems that "Nisso" got bought by Compile down the line and they published some of their old games later on their disk magazine.
Masamitsu "Moo" Niitani has since then founded CompileO, which so far has only released Nyoki-Nyoki: Tabidachi-Hen for the 3DS.
Other famous members of the company were Satoshi "PAC" Fujishima and Takayuki "Jemini" Hirono.
